Improving benthic monitoring by combining trawl and grab surveys

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2011
Environmental monitoring is performed on seafloor communities since these organisms are relatively stationary and integrate the environmental conditions over many years. Standard practices involve sampling by grab. Epifaunal taxa, often missed by grab sampling, are likely to have different ecological functions.

The effect of trawl speed on the footrope capture efficiency of a survey trawl

Fisheries Research, 2002
The effect of speed through water on the footrope capture efficiency of a survey bottom trawl was experimentally investigated by repetitively towing at three vessel speeds (2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 knots) with an auxiliary net attached underneath the trawl footrope to capture fish escaping beneath the trawl.

The Database of Trawl Surveys

This document focusses on the data flow into the ICES data management systems for surveys at sea, primarily those with a focus on fish species caught using bottom trawling nets. Trawlsurvey data hosted at ICES are collected by research institutions in ICES member countries, and other European countries outside the ICES area.

Acoustic Trawl Surveys: Processed Acoustic and Biotic data collected on acoustic trawl surveys in the Northeast Atlantic

This document focusses on the data flow into the ICES Acoustic Trawl data portal and database which host processed acoustic and biotic data collected on acoustic trawl surveys in the Northeast Atlantic and Baltic sea. The data hosted at ICES are collected primarily by research institutions within ICES member countries. Data submission deadlines for the
