Microplastics on the Menu: Plastics Pollute Indonesian Manta Ray and Whale Shark Feeding Grounds
The implications of plastic pollution, including microplastics, on marine ecosystems and species are increasingly seen as an environmental disaster. Yet few reports focus on filter-feeding megafauna in regions heavily impacted by plastic pollution, such ...

First record of the reticulated dragonet, Callionymus reticulatus Valenciennes, 1837 (Actinopterygii: Callionymiformes: Callionymidae), from the Balearic Islands, western Mediterranean [PDF]
Background. The reticulated dragonet, Callionymus reticulatus, was originally described based on a single specimen, the holotype from Malaga, Spain, south-western Mediterranean, probably collected before 1831.

Combination of UiO‐66(Ce) metal organic framework‐templated synthesis and in‐situ exsolution creates porous CeO2‐based anode decorated with Ni single atoms/nanoparticles, synergy of which leads to enhanced electronic/ionic transport, accelerated H2 oxidation, improved stability, and finally outstanding peak power density among oxide‐based SOFC anodes ...

Stochastic Entanglement of Deterministic Origami Tentacles For Robust Robotic Grasping
This study introduces an origami tentacle gripper to robustly grasp objects‐in air, underwater, and even in orbital space‐by exploiting a synergy between local, deterministic deformation programming and global, stochastic entanglements. A single origami tentacle can be designed to coil with a simple tendon pull.

Ru─Ni nanoclusters are anchored on WC via a rapid microwave quasi‐solid‐state method to build an ordered flexible interfacial hydrogen bond network. This structure boosts water dissociation and enables barrier‐free H/OH transport via the Grotthuss mechanism, forming dual H‐to‐Ru and OH‐to‐Ni spillover pathways to overcome the key challenges of alkaline

ABSTRACT To increase farmer adoption of green practices, the EU Common Agricultural Policy includes both mandatory (conditionality) and voluntary instruments (eco‐schemes–ECS– and more demanding, multi‐annual agri‐environment‐climate measures –AECM–). Building on the experiment of Barreiro‐Hurle et al.

Mechanistic studies on model Cu─M/SiO2 catalysts (M = Zn, Ga, and In) reveal that promoters enable a formate spillover pathway from Cu to Mn+ (n = 2 or 3) sites. The promoter's electronic effect on formate bond strengths serves as a quantitative descriptor for activity and selectivity, balancing spillover dynamics with intermediate stabilization to ...

An adaptive strategy for stratified random trawl surveys [PDF]
Abstract To minimise the error in biomass estimates from stratified random trawl surveys, the allocation of trawl stations amongst strata should be made according to prior information on fish distribution. Often such information is slight.
