TRD detector development for the CBM experiment

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2013
Abstract A transition radiation detector (TRD) prototype based on a single multiwire proportional chamber coupled with a small drift region was developed for the innermost part of the CBM-TRD subsystem. It preserves the same gas thickness for transition radiation absorption as the double-sided TRD prototype for which a pion misidentification ...

Psychological aspects and psychotherapy for TRD

2023
Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) refers to depression that persists even after the patient has undergone adequate trials of two or more antidepressants at appropriate doses and duration. While there may be controversy around this definition, it reflects the real-world clinical situation where drug therapy is often the primary treatment strategy for

Optimizing the TRD design for ACCESS

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1999
The present ACCESS design combines an ionization calorimeter with a transition radiation detector (TRD) to measure the cosmic ray composition and energy spectrum from H to Fe at energies above 1 TeV/nucleon to the “knee” in the all particle spectrum. We are in the process of optimizing the TRD design to extend the range of the technique to as high an ...

Description and performances of MACRO TRD

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1995
Abstract We discuss the applications of a transition radiation detector (TRD) to measure the residual energy of cosmic rays muons in underground laboratories and present the first MACRO TRD module. Results from prototypes operated in a test beam at CERN PS are also given.

A TRD for space borne apparatus

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2006
Abstract A Transition Radiation Detector (TRD), has been built to be used as charged particle identifier in satellite born apparatus. Originally conceived to be used in the PAMELA telescope, this TRD has been qualified for space as well. The compact design and the low power consumption make this detector suitable to be used in space researches in ...

The TRD of the CBM experiment

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2006
We introduce the TRD of the CBM experiment at the planned FAIR facility of GSI. A study on the optimization of the detector parameters in what concerns the electron/pion identification performance is presented. Results on tracking performance as well as on rate capability are shown.

TEC/TRD for the PHENIX experiment

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2004
Abstract The TEC/TRD is a set of large multi-wire tracking chambers in the PHENIX experiment with fiber radiators in front of the tracking volume. It provides charged-particle pattern recognition, momentum measurement and particle identification through determinations of both ionization energy loss (dE/dx) and associated transition radiation (TR ...

Status of AMS-TRD-Straw modules

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2004
Abstract The AMS02 experiment will be installed on the International Space Station for a data taking period of 3 years. The TRD consists of 20 layers of straw modules and fleece radiator with a total of 328 modules (16 straws each). The housing consists of a conically shaped octagon structure made out of CFC-Al-honeycomb material and is closed by a ...

UNDERGROUND MUON ENERGY SPECTRA WITH THE MACRO TRD

International Journal of Modern Physics A, 2005
The MACRO detector was located in the Hall B of the Gran Sasso underground Laboratories under an average rock overburden of 3700 hg/cm2. A TRD composed by three identical modules, covering an horizontal area of 36 m2, was added to the MACRO detector in order to measure the residual energy of muons entering MACRO.

Commissioning and performance of the ALICE-TRD

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2013
Abstract The Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) for ALICE at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is designed to identify electrons and to provide a Level-1 (L1) trigger decision based on fast online tracking in the high multiplicity environment of heavy ion collisions. Currently 10 super modules are installed and are fully operational.
