Deep neck space infections (DNSIs) are challenging to diagnose and manage. A female ex-smoker presented with difficulty breathing and chest pain. She was initially treated for exacerbation of emphysema with intravenous antibiotics. The ear, nose and throat team were later asked to review the patient for left submandibular swelling and odynophagia.

The fast neutron hodoscope used at TREAT reactor for fuel meltdown studies has been improved to permit count rates above 106/sec in each channel. Also a digital readout system, based on integrated circuit scalers, has been introduced. Peak instantaneous data rate capability, now about 107/sec, can be expanded to 109/sec.
