Radiation treatment of natural fibers

Radiation Physics and Chemistry (1977), 1977
Abstract The properties of fibers of henequ e n are improve by gamma irradiation in presence of methylmethacrylate. This natural fiber is mainly used for manufacture of threads, rugs, ropes, sacs, etc. so some of its properties, like tenacity, water repellency, etc. are importante in order to maintain the quality of the products.

Electrochemical Surface Treatment of Discontinuous Carbon Fibers

Langmuir, 2019
We developed an operationally simple electrolytic design for the surface treatment of short carbon fibers. Using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), we demonstrated that the electrochemical surface treatment of discontinuous fibers is highly reproducible, uniform, and tunable.

Ammonia Fiber Explosion Treatment of Corn Stover

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2004
Optimizing process conditions and parameters such as ammonia loading, moisture content of biomass, temperature, and residence time is necessary for maximum effectiveness of the ammonia fiber explosion process. Approximate optimal pretreatment conditions for corn stover were found to be temperature of 90 degrees C, ammonia:dry corn stover mass ratio of ...

Rigorous treatment of fiber-environmental interactions in fiber gyroscopes

2008 IEEE Region 8 International Conference on Computational Technologies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 2008
Thermal and elastomechanical effects on fiber optic gyroscopes (FOGs) are a major source of error signals and have been dealt with mainly by Shupe and Mohr. It has become a standard to use Shupepsilas nonreciprocity formula for calculating the thermally induced bias error in fibre gyroscopes.
