Treatment planning for protons and heavier ions is adapting technologies originally developed for photon dose optimization, but also has to meet its particular challenges. Since the quality of the applied dose is more sensitive to geometric uncertainties, treatment plan robust optimization has a much more prominent role in particle therapy.

Automated Radiotherapy Treatment Planning.
Seminars in Radiation Oncology, 2019The "treatment planning" component of managing a radiotherapy patient currently consumes hours, even days, of human effort. The time and workforce demands of the current planning paradigm can expose patients to delays and potentially substandard ...

Radiation treatment planning has developed into a substantial and effective component of the entire radiation treatment approach. Over the last 2 decades, with the development of high energy electron and x-ray sources, and also with the availability of new radionuclides and techniques for internally applied radiation, all of which permit a high degree ...

BACKGROUND Pre-clinical research into ultrahigh dose-rate (e.g. ≥40Gy/s) "FLASH"-radiotherapy suggests a decrease in side-effects compared to conventional irradiation, while maintaining tumor control. When FLASH is delivered using a scanning proton beam,

Personalized Treatment Planning
2009This chapter aims to outline a flexible framework which the dental team can use to bring together key elements of information about their patients and their patients' teeth in order to plan appropriate, patient-centred, caries management based on the application of best current evidence and practice.

Hyperthermia treatment planning
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2000The development of hyperthermia, the treatment of tumours with elevated temperatures in the range of 40-44 degrees C with treatment times over 30 min, greatly benefits from the development of hyperthermia treatment planning. This review briefly describes the state of the art in hyperthermia technology, followed by an overview of the developments in ...

Chapter 6 describes how to use treatment plans to guide cognitive remediation sessions. Personalized treatment planning takes into account the multiple factors unique to each client that impact how they use cognition in everyday life. Neuropsychological Educational Approach to Remediation (NEAR) treatment plans address current cognitive deficits, the ...

Treatment Objectives and Treatment Planning
Dental Clinics of North America, 1981Treatment planning is perhaps the most challenging aspect of orthodontic treatment. Each patient is an individual and must be treated as such. A conscientious clinician must avoid casting every patient into stereotyped treatment. This article has attempted to present one way to aid and guide the clinician in the methodical thought process necessary in ...
