The family Oocystaceae (Chlorophyta) is a group of morphologically and ultrastructurally distinct green algae that constitute a well‐supported clade in the class Trebouxiophyceae. Despite the family's clear delimitation, which is based on specific cell wall features, only a few members of the Oocystaceae have been examined using data other than ...

Meiotic genes and sexual reproduction in the green algal class Trebouxiophyceae (Chlorophyta)
Journal of Phycology, 2015Sexual reproduction is widespread in eukaryotes and is well documented in chlorophytan green algae. In this lineage, however, the Trebouxiophyceae represent a striking exception: in contrast to its relatives Chlorophyceae and Ulvophyceae this group appears to be mostly asexual, as fertilization has been rarely observed.

Watanabeales ord. nov. and twelve novel species of Trebouxiophyceae (Chlorophyta)
Journal of Phycology, 2021The Trebouxiophyceae include Chlorellales, Prasiolales, Trebouxiales, Microthamniales, and numerous members for which taxonomic locations have not been determined. The Watanabea clade is a group in the Trebouxiophyceae of Chlorella‐like taxa, which are predominantly solitary and terrestrial.

The hidden diversity of lichenised Trebouxiophyceae (Chlorophyta)
Phycologia, 2018The class Trebouxiophyceae is comprised of coccoid to ellipsoid unicells, filaments, blades and colony-forming species of green algae occurring in diverse terrestrial and aquatic environments. Some representatives have evolved parasitic heterotrophic lifestyles, others have been investigated for their biotechnological potential and others have evolved ...

Arsenolipids in the green alga Coccomyxa (Trebouxiophyceae, Chlorophyta)
Phytochemistry, 2019Lipid-like compounds containing a dimethylarsinoyl group, i.e. Me2As(O)-, have been identified by liquid chromatography/inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LC/ICP-MS) and non-aqueous reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (positive and/or negative high-resolution tandem electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (NARP-HPLC/HR ...

Genotype versus Phenotype Variability in Chlorella and Micractinium (Chlorophyta, Trebouxiophyceae)
Protist, 2006The most recent revision of the genus Chlorella, based on biochemical and SSU rDNA analyses, suggested a reduction to a set of four "true" spherical Chlorella species, while a growing number of morphologically different species such as Micractinium (formerly Micractiniaceae) were found to cluster within the clade of "true"Chlorella.
