On the Height of Multidimensional Height-Balanced Trees

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1986
It is shown that the worst case height of a k-dimensional height-balanced tree, \(k\geq 2\), is the same as that of an AVL-tree, to within an additive factor of 2k-2.

Height Restricted Optimal Binary Trees

SIAM Journal on Computing, 1987
Summary: An algorithm that constructs an optimal height-restricted binary tree for a set of n weights in \(O(n^{3/2} L \log^{1/2} n)\) time, where L is the maximum permitted height, is presented. This is an improvement over the fastest previously known algorithm, which requires O(n 2 L) time.

Bounded Height Trees and Tree-Depth

2012
After treating graph classes and class resolutions we return to the basics: the structure of finite trees as the true measure of our things.

Tree Heights without a Tape

Journal of Forestry, 1968
Abstract With a lightweight telescoping measuring rod and a clinometer graduated in percent slope, the principle of the Christen hypsometer can be used to estimate tree heights without need for tape measurement of a horizontal base line. Under certain conditions, savings in time and labor can be substantial.

Tree diversity in relation to tree height: alternative perspectives

Ecology Letters, 2017
AbstractMarks et al. (Ecol. Lett., 19, 2016, 743–751) show that tree diversity increases with tree height in North America and argue it reflects habitat ‘suitability’. This finding conflicts with classical results, lacks controls for covariates of tree height, and can be explained alternatively using the modified Janzen–Connell effect and regional ...

Tree height extraction using polarimetric SAR interferometry

IEEE 1999 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. IGARSS'99 (Cat. No.99CH36293), 2003
SAR interferograms allow the extraction of the height difference between the corresponding effective scattering centers. The performance as well as the accuracy of the different approaches is compared using available ground truth data from the region.
