Neural trees for image segmentation
Proceedings of International Conference on Neural Networks (ICNN'97), 2002In this paper we report the application of neural trees for image segmentation of magnetic resonance (MR) images. The network, built up during training, effectively partitions the feature space into subregions and each final subregion is assigned a class label according to the data routed to it.

A hierarchical segmentation tree for superpixel-based image segmentation
2016 International Conference on Image and Vision Computing New Zealand (IVCNZ), 2016In this work, we introduce the concept of the superpixel association and propose a hierarchical tree for image segmentation with superpixel associations. Different from other unsupervised image segmentation algorithms, our method can generate segmentation without needing specifiednumber of segments.

In this paper a variant of a segment tree is devised on which, in addition to insertions, deletions and stabbing queries, the operations concatenate and split can be performed efficiently. Insertions, concatenations and splits take O(log n) time, deletions take O(log2n) time, stabbing queries take O(k + log n) time (where k is the number of answers to ...

A segment-tree based kinetic BSP
Proceedings of the seventeenth annual symposium on Computational geometry, 2001We present anew technique to maintain a BSP for a set of n moving disj oint segments in the plane. Our kinetic BSP uses O(n log n) storage and it undergoes O(n 2 ) changes in the worst case, assuming that the endpoints of the segments move along bounded-degree algebraically dened trajecto- ries. The response time (the time needed to update the BSP when

Normalized tree partitioning for image segmentation
2008 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2008In this paper, we propose a novel graph based clustering approach with satisfactory clustering performance and low computational cost. It consists of two main steps: tree fitting and partitioning. We first introduce a probabilistic method to fit a tree to a data graph under the sense of minimum entropy. Then, we propose a novel tree partitioning method

Automatic Image Segmentation by Tree Pruning
Journal of Mathematical Imaging and Vision, 2007The Image Foresting Transform (IFT) is a tool for the design of image processing operators based on connectivity, which reduces image processing problems into an optimum-path forest problem in a graph derived from the image. A new image operator is presented, which solves segmentation by pruning trees of the forest.

From Ramp Discontinuities to Segmentation Tree
2010This paper presents a new algorithm for low-level multiscale segmentation of images. The algorithm is designed to detect image regions regardless of their shapes, sizes, and levels of interior homogeneity, by doing a multiscale analysis without assuming any prior models of region geometry.

Segmentation and virtual exploration of tracheobronchial trees
International Congress Series, 2003Abstract The tracheobronchial tree as part of the lung is part of one of the most important organs of the human body. Inhaled air is distributed to the alveolus where oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange between air and blood takes place.
