A simplified analysis of plate structures using Trefftz‐functions

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1992
AbstractThis paper presents a method for a quick evaluation of stresses and displacements in a plate structure for elastostatic problems. First, an approximation is built from the mathematical structure of the solutions for starshaped domains, which is representative of long wavelength effects.

Use of Trefftz functions in non-linear BEM/FEM

Computers & Structures, 2004
Simulation of many practical problems requires to use non-linear formulations with large displacements, large strains and large rotations. It is well known that the use of Trefftz (T-) functions (i. e. the functions satisfying the governing equations inside the domain) as weighting, or interpolation functions leads to more efficient formulations than ...

On the convex functionals analogous to the generalized trefftz functionals in variational problems of the theory of elasticity

Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1980
Abstract A possible general approach for constructing convex functionals in the variational problems of the theory of elasticity, utilizing the Lagrange's multipliers, is indicated. It is shown that such functionals can be constructed in exactly the same manner as the generalized Trefftz functionals which were constructed in /1/ for the basic ...

Alternative T‐complete systems of shape functions applied in analytical Trefftz finite elements

Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, 1995
AbstractThe authors compare the behavior of hybrid Trefftz p‐elements with two different types of shape functions identically fulfilling governing differential equations. Numerical examples include several boundary problems for Laplace, Poisson, and plane elasticity equations.

Finite element methods with local Trefftz trial functions

2012

Sensitivity Analysis of Potential Problem by Regular- and Singular-function Trefftz Method

1995
Trefftz method is the boundary-type solution procedure which uses the function satisfying the governing equation as the approximation function of the solution of the problem. The regular T-complete function and the singular fundamental solution are employed as the approximation function.

Direct solution procedure for solution of harmonic problems using complete, non‐singular, Trefftz functions

Communications in Applied Numerical Methods, 1989
AbstractBoundary approximation solutions using a singular Green function basis have been widely applied to the solution of a variety of linear problems. To avoid the difficulties associated with integration over singularities it is convenient to use sets of non‐singular, complete Trefftz functions, and this procedure has been applied recently with ...
