Trefftz, collocation, and other boundary methods—A comparison
Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, 2006AbstractIn this article we survey the Trefftz method (TM), the collocation method (CM), and the collocation Trefftz method (CTM). We also review the coupling techniques for the interzonal conditions, which include the indirect Trefftz method, the original Trefftz method, the penalty plus hybrid Trefftz method, and the direct Trefftz method.

On Trefftz's Method and Its Application to Eigenvalue Problems
1986We propose a procedure for constructing the functionals which occur in Trefftz's method. It is shown that these functionals can be employed for calculating bounds to eigenvalues.

Trefftz method for plane piezoelectricity
2003Starting from the governing equations, the general solution and the complete solution set for plane piezoelectricity are derived in this paper. Subsequently, the Trefftz collocation method (TCM) is formulated. TCM falls into the category of Trefftz indirect methods which adopt the truncated complete solution set as the trial functions.

Trefftz method: A general theory
Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, 2000The article is concerned with an overview on (extensions of) the Trefftz method for the numerical solution of boundary value problems with linear ordinary or partial differential equations, where in addition, jumps can be prescribed at interior interfaces in the domain.

The Rayleigh-Ritz and Trefftz Methods
1981The Rayleigh-Ritz method belongs to the so-called direct methods of the calculus of variations, inasmuch as it is applied to problems formulated in an integral rather than a conventional, that is, differential, form. More often than not, the procedure involves the minimization of integrals containing unknown functions and their derivatives, without ...

Solution of Helmholtz equation by Trefftz method
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1991AbstractThe application of the Trefftz method for calculating wave forces on offshore structures is presented. Indirect and direct formulations using complete and non‐singular systems of Trefftz functions for the Helmholtz equation are posed in this paper.

Trefftz's Method for Vibration of Rigid Plate
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1987Trefftz’s method is applied to study the vertical vibration of a rigid rectangular plate of infinite length resting on an elastic half-space. The problem is formulated as one of diffraction of elastic waves. The method consists in using c-complete or T-complete (T after Trefftz) families of solutions of the governing equations in the medium to ...

The Discontinuous Galerkin Trefftz Method

Trefftz indirect methods for plane piezoelectricity
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2005Summary: A unified theory for the general solutions of three-dimensional elasticity is employed to transform the governing equations of plane piezoelectricity into three generalized Laplace equations. The latter equations are uncoupled and can be pursued separately.
