Trellis Coded Spatial Modulation [PDF]
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2010 Trellis coded modulation (TCM) is a well known scheme that reduces power requirements without any bandwidth expansion. In TCM, only certain sequences of successive constellation points are allowed (mapping by set partitioning). The novel idea in this paper is to apply the TCM concept to the antenna constellation points of spatial modulation (SM).

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2007 In this paper, we present a concatenated coding scheme for a high rate $2\times 2$ multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system over slow fading channels. The inner code is the Golden code \cite{Golden05} and the outer code is a trellis code. Set partitioning of the Golden code is designed specifically to increase the minimum determinant.
