Importance of connectivity for carnivore richness and occupancy in fragmented biodiversity hotspots. [PDF]
Abstract Structural connectivity affects wildlife movement between habitat patches, contributing to the persistence of wildlife populations and their resilience to human‐induced and environmental changes. However, its importance to wildlife population persistence remains unclear, particularly in fragmented landscapes, where there are additional co ...

Omnidirectional connectivity for the Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus) across the Colombian Andes [PDF]
Abstract Context Conserving or restoring connectivity is a common objective of landscape-scale conservation initiatives. However, precise species occurrence or movement data to inform or validate spatial models are often lacking. Objectives Our objectives were to 1) produce the first approximation of country-wide connectivity for Andean bears (

Characterization of antimicrobial resistance profiles in Escherichia coli isolated from captive mammals in Ecuador. [PDF]
Among 90 E. coli isolates from 70 mammals, significant resistance was found to ampicillin (52.22%), ceftriaxone (42.22%) and cefuroxime (42.22%), with 27.78% being ESBL‐producing. Notably, 66.67% of isolates showed resistance to at least one antibiotic, and 35.56% exhibited multiresistant phenotypes.

Anesthetic protocol using propofol and isoflurane in spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus)
The management of wild animals generally requires chemical containment with the use of sedatives, tranquilizers, general anesthetics or dissociative drugs. The spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus) is the only member of the family Ursidae characteristic of South America. There are few reports on the main anesthetic protocols used in this specie. The aim
