Key Points Six new Ca‐Mg‐Fe carbonate reference materials are available to the global geochemical community for calibrating oxygen and carbon isotope ratios by SIMS. Significant compositional matrix effects were observed in the dolomite‐ankerite and magnesite‐siderite series during SIMS analysis. Compositional matrix effects correlate with Fe variation.

Introduction Study of the petrology of the ophiolites as the relics of ancient oceanic lithosphere, is a powerful tool to reconstruct Earth’s history. Mantle peridotites have mostly undergone alteration and serpentinization to some extent.

Abstract Fluids released from subducting hydrated rocks influence volcanism, tectonics, and geochemical cycling, but the mechanisms of fluid escape in subduction zones remain poorly understood. We address this issue by investigating the Erro‐Tobbio meta‐serpentinites (ET‐MS), Italy, exhumed serpentinite rocks that preserve extensive dehydration vein ...

Tremolite-Asbestos Presence in Roman Archaeological Site of Micia, Romania
This paper reports the first evidence of the presence of the mineral tremolite asbestos in Roman building materials from the Micia archaeological site (Romania), thus contributing to the understanding of the implications of ancient building materials ...

Abstract One of the main limitations in simulating subsolidus metasomatism is the decoupling between thermomechanical models and chemical/thermodynamic modeling. This decoupling amplifies the uncertainty associated with mass transport. Here, we introduce a fluid‐rock chemical‐thermomechanical interaction scheme, which integrates thermodynamic modeling (

Identifying and managing asbestiform minerals in geological collections [PDF]
Asbestos is widely recognised as a serious hazard, and its industrial use is now banned within the UK, and EU, and strict regulations govern the use of older manufactured materials which may contain asbestos.

Interplay Between Mechanical and Petrochemical Models on the Fluid Extraction From Subduction Zones
ABSTRACT The breakdown of hydrous minerals during subduction results in a densification of the rocks, producing volume changes that can trigger fluid pressure fluctuations and hydrofracturing. These volume changes are controlled by the Clapeyron slope of the reaction and are quantified here using a macroscopic framework that integrates a zero ...

Critical reappraisal of Balangero chrysotile and mesothelioma risk
Background Balangero, 40 km northwest of Torino in the Piedmonte Region, was home to the largest and most active chrysotile mine in Europe operating from 1916 - 1990 and employed over 300 men at any one time.

We build a new, open‐source global copper deposit dataset (GCDD), facilitating AI‐driven data analysis for exploration targeting and improving our understanding of copper mineralizing systems and their mappable expressions. The GCDD hosts information about 1483 copper deposits worldwide, capturing key deposit attributes such as location, genetic type ...
