Barriers and opportunities for further enhancing urban garden biodiversity: Insights from a behaviour change model for the United Kingdom

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Urbanisation poses a major threat to biodiversity, yet residential gardens offer opportunities to provide key habitats for urban wildlife. Understanding both the perceived feasibility of implementing further improvements to gardens for biodiversity and the barriers that constrain engagement is essential for designing effective conservation ...

Sepiolite Nanofibers Decorated With Zn Single Sites: A Sustainable Filler for Mechanically Robust and Self‐Healing Ionomeric Elastomer Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Fabrication of XNBR nanocomposites reinforced with Zn single‐site decorated sepiolite nanofibers. The resulting composites exhibit high mechanical strength and self‐healing performance, driven by dynamic interactions between the Zn single sites and the XNBR chains (inset).

Influence of Hybrid Co‐wrapped Yarn Structure on the Energy Absorption and Crack Propagation Resistance of Fiber‐Reinforced Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Helical wrapping of polyamide around E‐glass fibres deflects and bridges impact‐driven cracks, arresting damage that would otherwise propagate catastrophically in conventional side‐by‐side hybrid yarns. ABSTRACT Hybrid cowrapped (CW) yarns were engineered to enhance the impact resistance and damage tolerance of fiber‐reinforced composites.

Sustainable Thermoplastic Textile Composites Reinforced With Reused Post‐Consumer Denim Fabric: Effects of PLA and PP Matrices on Mechanical Performance and Environmental Durability

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the fabrication of thermoplastic composites using reused post‐consumer denim fabric and PLA and PP matrices via hot press molding. ABSTRACT The increasing generation of textile waste and the growing demand for sustainable materials have made the development of polymer composites reinforced with reused post‐consumer textiles ...

Investigation of a Polyamide 6 (PA6) and Polybutylene Succinate (PBS) Blend as Candidate Matrix for Self‐Healing Application

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
This illustration shows polyamide 6 (PA6) blended with 20–50% polybutylene succinate (PBS) by volume. The balance between tensile properties, fracture toughness and self‐healing capability is achieved in the 30% vol PBS blend. Thermal healing at 140°C results in 40% fracture toughness recovery in a blend containing 30% vol PBS.
