The greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood), is one of the harmful pests of vegetables and ornamental plants. The high damage caused by this pest has made it necessary to design an integrated pest management (IPM) programs based on ...

Sequence analysis and genomic organization of Aphid lethal paralysis virus: a new member of the family Dicistroviridae [PDF]
The complete nucleotide sequence of the genomic RNA of an aphid-infecting virus, Aphid lethal paralysis virus (ALPV), has been determined. The genome is 9812 nt in length and contains two long open reading frames (ORFs), which are separated by an ...

First and third instar Chrysoperla externa showed efficient predatory capacity at low R. indica density, but second instar C. externa exhibits a density‐dependent predatory ability. The lacewing C. externa shows promise as a biocontrol agent for R. indica in coconut because it consumed 8362 R. indica females across all its larval instars.

Lebensdauer des räuberischen Marienkäfers Serangium parcesetosum Sicard (Col., Coccinellidae) mit natürlicher und künstlicher Nahrung [PDF]
The little known ladybird, Serangium parcesetosum SICARD (Col., Coccinellidae) seems to be an important predator of whiteflies. It has found attacking Bemisia tabaci (GENN.) (Hom., Aleyrodidae) (KAPADIA & PURI 1992), Aleurolobus barodensis MASK (PATEL et

ABSTRACT Trap cropping is a pest management strategy where a grower plants an attractive “trap crop” alongside the primary crop to divert pests away from it. We propose a simple framework for optimizing the proportion of a grower's field or greenhouse allocated to a main crop and a trap crop to maximize agricultural yield.

Pepino Mosaic Virus: A Globally Important Tomato Pathogen and a Rising Model in Molecular Virology
Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV) is a globally important tomato pathogen causing fruit quality losses. It comprises multiple genetic types and spreads via seed and mechanical contact. Lacking resistant cultivars, management relies on cross‐protection. PepMV–tomato interactions provide a valuable model for studying virus–plant molecular mechanisms and ...

Commodity risk assessment of Petunia spp. and Calibrachoa spp. unrooted cuttings from Uganda
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to evaluate the likelihood of pest freedom at entry in the EU, including both regulated and non‐regulated pests, potentially associated with unrooted cuttings of the genera Petunia and Calibrachoa produced under physical isolation in Uganda.
