Connectivity Compression for Irregular Quadrilateral Meshes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
Applications that require Internet access to remote 3D datasets are often limited by the storage costs of 3D models. Several compression methods are available to address these limits for objects represented by triangle meshes. Many CAD and VRML models, however, are represented as quadrilateral meshes or mixed triangle/quadrilateral meshes, and these ...

Tracing cross-free polylines oriented by a N-symmetry direction field on triangulated surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We propose an algorithm for tracing polylines on a triangle mesh such that: they are aligned with a N-symmetry direction field, and two such polylines cannot cross or merge. This property is fundamental for mesh segmentation and is very difficult to enforce with numerical integration of vector fields. We propose an alternative solution based on "stream-

ℓ_1-Based Construction of Polycube Maps from Complex Shapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Polycube maps of triangle meshes have proved useful in a wide range of applications, including texture mapping and hexahedral mesh generation. However, constructing either fully automatically or with limited user control a low-distortion polycube from a ...

An extended triangulation to the Marching Cubes 33 algorithm

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Computer Society, 2019
The Marching Cubes algorithm is arguably the most popular isosurface extraction algorithm. Since its inception, two problems have lingered, namely, triangle quality and topology correctness.

Fabrication of a Lipopolysaccharide‐Targeting Peptide‐Based Colloid for Alleviating Carbapenem‐Resistant Enterobacteriaceae‐Induced Cutaneous Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, a novel cationic peptide, IW is designed and synthesized, with a tandem‐repeat sequence demonstrating potent activities against a broad spectrum of clinically relevant Carbapenem‐resistant Enterobacteriaceae in both the planktonic and biofilm states. IW is then formulated with P407 to form IW‐P407 colloids.

Study on boundary search method for DFM mesh generation [PDF]

open access: yesChina Foundry, 2012
The boundary mesh of the casting model was determined by direct calculation on the triangular facets extracted from the STL file of the 3D model. Then the inner and outer grids of the model were identified by the algorithm in which we named Inner Seed ...

Multifunctional Neural Probes Enable Bidirectional Electrical, Optical, and Chemical Recording and Stimulation In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Convergence drawing is used to create flexible, microscale, multifunctional fiber‐based neural probes. Optimized materials selection enables individual devices to perform neural recording, electrical stimulation, optogenetics, fiber photometry, fluid delivery, and voltammetric neurotransmitter detection in rodents.

The Convergence of Discrete Uniformizations for Closed Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The notions of discrete conformality on triangle meshes have rich mathematical theories and wide applications. The related notions of discrete uniformizations on triangle meshes, suggest efficient methods for computing the uniformizations of surfaces.

Laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) hernioplasty using two trocars: anatomical landmarks and surgical technique

open access: yesABCD: Arquivos Brasileiros de Cirurgia Digestiva, 2015
BACKGROUND: Among endoscopic hernioplasties, totally extraperitoneal (TEP) and transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) approach are widely accepted alternatives to open surgery, both providing less postoperative pain, hospital length of stay and early ...

High‐Resolution Patterned Delivery of Chemical Signals From 3D‐Printed Picoliter Droplet Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
3D‐printed picoliter droplet networks have been fabricated that control gene expression in bacterial populations by releasing chemical signals with precise spatial definition and high temporal resolution. This system of effector release is widely applicable, offering diverse applications in biology and medicine.
