A new method for simplification and compression of 3D meshes [PDF]

open access: yes
We focus on the lossy compression of manifold triangle meshes. Our SwingWrapper approach partitions the surface of an original mesh M into simply-connected regions, called triangloids. We compute a new mesh M\u27.

Smooth Hierarchical Surface Triangulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We present a new method to produce a hierarchical set of triangle meshes that can be used to blend different levels of detail in a smooth fashion. The algorithms produces a sequence of meshes M0, M1, M2,..., Mn, where each mesh Mi can be transformed to ...

A tetrahedral space-filling curve for non-conforming adaptive meshes

open access: yes, 2016
We introduce a space-filling curve for triangular and tetrahedral red-refinement that can be computed using bitwise interleaving operations similar to the well-known Z-order or Morton curve for cubical meshes.

Uni‐Axial Densification of Slurry‐Casted Li₆PS₅Cl Tapes: The Role of Particle Size Distribution and Densification Pressure

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Solid‐state batteries promise high energy density and safety for electric vehicles. This study examines the densification of slurry‐casted Li₆PS₅Cl separator tapes, highlighting the role of particle size distribution and uni‐axial pressure. Wet milling refines particles while preserving conductivity, and a critical compaction threshold leads to ...

Optimization of Core–Shell Ternary Electrodes for High‐Performance Ionic Actuator in Soft Gripper

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A core–shell ternary electrode (Opt‐SWCNTs/PEDOT:PSS/IL) is developed via a simple two‐step dispersion and vacuum filtration process, with component ratios optimized to achieve excellent mechanical toughness and electrical conductivity based on simulation results.

Optimization of a Triangular Delaunay Mesh Generator using Reinforcement Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this work we introduce a triangular Delaunay mesh generator that can be trained using reinforcement learning to maximize a given mesh quality metric. Our mesh generator consists of a graph neural network that distributes and modifies vertices, and a standard Delaunay algorithm to triangulate the vertices.

An Adaptive Screen-Space Meshing Approach for Normal Integration [PDF]

open access: yes
Reconstructing surfaces from normals is a key component of photometric stereo. This work introduces an adaptive surface triangulation in the image domain and afterwards performs the normal integration on a triangle mesh. Our key insight is that surface curvature can be computed from normals.
