Mechanisms of De‐icing by Surface Rayleigh and Plate Lamb Acoustic Waves
Ice accretion impacts daily life, renewable energy generation, maintenance, and security in industries and aeronautics. Acoustic waves (AW) are a promising method for ice removal, although de‐icing mechanisms require further investigation to optimize energy efficiency.

In image-based three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction, texture-mapping techniques can give the model realistic textures. When the geometric surface in some regions is not reconstructed, such as for moving cars, powerlines, and telegraph poles, the ...

YORP torques with 1D thermal model
A numerical model of the Yarkovsky-O'Keefe-Radzievskii-Paddack (YORP) effect for objects defined in terms of a triangular mesh is described. The algorithm requires that each surface triangle can be handled independently, which implies the use of a 1D ...

A perceptual quality metric for 3D triangle meshes based on spatial pooling [PDF]
© 2018, Higher Education Press and Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature. In computer graphics, various processing operations are applied to 3D triangle meshes and these processes often involve distortions, which affect the visual quality

This study explores aerosol jet‐printed (AJP) surface roughness, its effects on the performance of microwave electronics, and its process contributors. First, an electromagnetic model is vetted for AJP's unique roughness signature. Simulations are built which show process‐induced roughness is as significant as conductor resistivity in driving microwave

An Effective Method for Slicing Triangle Meshes Using a Freeform Curve
Slicing 3D polygonal meshes is a fundamental operation in various applications such as virtual surgery, garment simulation, and game development. Existing methods primarily slice meshes using either a single line or a set of line segments approximating a

Multi-scale space-variant FRep cellular structures [PDF]
Existing mesh and voxel based modeling methods encounter difficulties when dealing with objects containing cellular structures on several scale levels and varying their parameters in space.

This study investigates the complex mechanics of individual electrospun polycaprolactone fibers under small and large strains. Combining experiments with a visco‐hyperelastic damage model, this work reveals and quantifies these fibers’ nonlinear behavior, including strain‐stiffening, viscoelasticity, and damage.

An ANN-based advancing double-front method for automatic isotropic triangle generation
The advancing front method (AFM) is one of the widely used unstructured grid generation techniques. However, the efficiency is relatively low because only one cell is generated in the advancing procedure.
