Surgical Approach to the Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex

Techniques in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery, 2003
There are few descriptions of the surgical exposure of the ulnar aspect of the wrist. The anatomy of the dorsoulnar aspect of the wrist was explored in 7 cadaver wrists with special attention to developing a surgical approach to the dorsum of the radio-ulno-carpal joint.

Arthroscopic repair of triangular fibrocartilage complex injuries

Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 2001
The triangular fibrocartilage complex is a functionally and anatomically intricate group of structures located at the ulnar aspect of the wrist. Injury to this structure affects the biomechanics of the wrist and makes functional restoration difficult.

Triangular fibrocartilage complex lesions: A classification

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1989
Based on anatomic and biomechanical studies and review of our clinical experience of the past 10 years, a classification of injuries to the triangular fibrocartilage complex is presented. This classification is based on the clinical examination, routine x-ray films, wrist arthrograms, wrist arthroscopy, and wrist arthrotomy.

MR IMAGING OF THE TRIANGULAR FIBROCARTILAGE COMPLEX

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Clinics of North America, 1995
This article describes in detail the anatomic components of normal triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) and its MR appearance on high resolution MR images. It also describes pathologic processes of TFCC and its MR appearance.

Arthroscopic Repairs of Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex Tears

AORN Journal, 1997
ABSTRACTTechnical advancements in arthroscopic wrist procedures have improved our knowledge of normal and abnormal intraarticular wrist function. Triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tears from trauma injuries are a common source of ulnar‐sided wrist pain.

MR Imaging of the Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Clinics of North America, 2015
MR imaging has emerged as the mainstay in imaging internal derangement of the soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system largely because of superior contrast resolution. The complex geometry and diminutive size of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) and its constituent structures can make optimal imaging of the TFCC challenging; therefore ...

Open Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex Repair

2016
This chapter details the essential surgical steps involved in open repair of a triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tear. The TFCC is exposed and the tear is debrided. If the TFCC tear is associated with ulnar styloid fracture, styloid repair and fixation are additional steps.

Arthroscopic repair of the triangular fibrocartilage complex

Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic & Related Surgery, 1996
To evaluate the efficacy of arthroscopic repair of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC), functional outcome was determined after arthroscopic repair of 22 wrists in 21 patients. Average follow-up was 36 months (range, 26 to 48 months) and the patients' average age was 30 years (range, 22 to 38 years).

Histological assessment of the triangular fibrocartilage complex

Journal of Hand Surgery (European Volume), 2015
The morphological structure of the seven components of triangular fibrocartilage complexes of 11 cadaver wrists of elderly people was assessed microscopically, after staining with Hematoxylin-Eosin and Elastica van Gieson. The articular disc consisted of tight interlaced fibrocartilage without blood vessels except in its ulnar part.

Functional Anatomy of The Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex

Journal of Hand Surgery, 1996
The functional anatomy of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) was investigated in 20 fresh cadavers. Dynamic changes in the TFCC during rotation were also examined from both the proximal and distal aspects. In our analysis, the TFCC was separated into three components. The distal component was stable, functioning like a hammock to suspend the
