Marine silicon for biomedical sustainability

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating marine silicon for biomedical engineering. Abstract Despite momentous divergence from oceanic origin, human beings and marine organisms exhibit elemental homology through silicon utilization. Notably, silicon serves as a critical constituent in multiple biomedical processes.

Use of Acellular Dermal Matrix to Prevent Recurrence of Radioulnar Heterotopic Ossification. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Radioulnar heterotopic ossification is a rare occurrence found in approximately 2% of all forearm injuries. Treatment is complicated by relatively high recurrence rates.

Histopathologic Analysis of the Morpho‐Functional Zones of the Human Acetabular Labrum

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The structural and functional adaptation of soft tissues to mechanical load controls their ability to withstand injury and influences their capacity for healing. Similar to the knee meniscus, the acetabular labrum exhibits zonal differences in mechanical load distribution, resulting in distinct regions with unique structural and functional ...

Bucket-handle tear of the triangular fibrocartilage complex: case report of a complex peripheral injury with separation of the distal radioulnar ligaments from the articular disc [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Palmer previously proposed a classification system of triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) injuries that proved to be useful in directing clinical management.

Epidemiology of musculoskeletal upper extremity ambulatory surgery in the United States [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Musculoskeletal disorders of the upper extremity are common reasons for patients to seek care and undergo ambulatory surgery. The objective of our study was to assess the overall and age-adjusted utilization rates of rotator cuff repair ...

Mapping the murine TMJ glenoid fossa over development, homeostasis and in response to disease

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
The fibrocartilage of the murine glenoid fossa and condyle of the temporomandibular joint are shown to form at distinct times with distinct molecular identities. Changes in the condyle during disease lead to remodelling of the fossa to maintain joint alignment.

Normal Range and Influencing Factors of Distal Radioulnar Joint Translation: A Descriptive Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
For optimal clinical utility, the distal radioulnar joint ballottement test should be performed in forearm supination with bilateral comparison, as translation in this position provides reference values and is significantly influenced by grip strength, forearm length, weight, and age.

All-Arthroscopic Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex Ligamentoplasty: Technique and Results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Objective The aim of the study is to describe the modified all-arthroscopic technique for triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) ligamentoplasty in chronic injuries of the TFCC with distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) instability, and to present the ...

Larger Lumbar Vertebral Body Osteophyte Volume Is Associated With Older Age and a More Caudal Vertebral Level in Individuals With Chronic Low Back Pain

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Procrustes analysis was used to match osteophyte‐free lumbar vertebral bodies to lumbar vertebral bodies containing osteophytes. The volume of the reference library bone was subtracted to create an osteophyte model, from which regional osteophyte volumes were calculated.
