Experimental Deformation of Textured Amphibolites in the Semi‐Brittle Regime: Microstructural Signatures of Dislocation‐Mediated Deformation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Hornblende amphibole is difficult to deform plastically in experiments due to its anisotropic nature and breakdown at relatively low temperatures (∼850°C). The lack of experimental analysis of hornblende plasticity hampers interpreting the deformation mechanisms of natural samples, which remain unresolved and debated.

Synchronized Multidisciplinary Observations in Large‐Scale Dam Breach Experiments to Enhance the Understanding of Dam Failure Evolution

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Natural landslide dams pose severe hazards when they fail, and understanding their breach processes remain challenging because such events are rarely observed directly in the field. To address this gap, we conducted large‐scale overtopping experiments with compacted (CP) and non‐compacted (NCP) dams, supported by a synchronized multi‐sensor ...

Anti‐Snake Ballistic Missiles: Explosions Trigger Immediate Movement in Snakes

open access: yesEthology, Volume 132, Issue 1, Page 67-71, January 2026.
Spalerosophis diadema snakes exhibited immediate movement responses to missile attacks accompanied by loud explosion noises during the military conflict between Israel and Iran. ABSTRACT Biodiversity and conservation are often the least noticed during armed conflicts. From October 1st, 2024, and again between June 13 and 24th, 2025, a brief but intense

Validation and Investigation of a Multiaxial Progressive Damage Model Through Glass Fiber Reinforced Tube Specimen Under Fatigue Loading

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 1, Page 84-101, January 2026.
ABSTRACT In the field of composite structure fatigue simulations, progressive damage models are common tools. However, these models are dependent on the definition of meta parameters, such as the residual stiffness following an interfiber failure mode. This study presents a progressive damage model utilizing shell elements, with the material parameters
