Triaxial Tests of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete
Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2001This paper presents results of an extensive experimental parametric study of the mechanical response of various types of fiber-reinforced concrete tested under triaxial stress combinations. The objective of this study was to characterize the constitutive properties of these materials, with respect to fiber type and content, load path, condition at ...

Discrete element method simulations on triaxial test and triaxial creep tests
2014Numerical triaxial simulations using the discrete element method (DEM) were performed to examine how the adopted contact models and the associated parameters affect the response. The increase in the shear modulus G in the Hertz-Mindlin’s contact model can enhance the small-strain Young’s modulus and reduce the initial volumetric contraction but the ...

Triaxial Testing of Weak Rocks Including the Use of Triaxial Extension Tests
1988The strength parameters of New Zealand Tertiary weak rocks are found to be intermediate between soil and rock. The nonlinear strength envelopes of these materials for the range of stresses encountered in engineering structures mean that the strength parameters cannot be adequately defined using standard triaxial compression tests.

Abstract To investigate the strength and the deformation behaviour of crushed ice, triaxial tests were performed. Crushed ice is formed during ice-structure interaction by extensive damage of polycrystalline ice near the structure. The effects of the confining pressure and the rate of loading are studied.

Triaxial testing beyond yielding
2017This paper is continuation of work published at ISOPE 2015, where capabilities of undrained triaxial testing were presented. Now, drained loading is emphasized, recovery of disturbed sand properties is observed. After liquefying or yielding, sand becomes disturbed: stiffness and resistance to liquefaction become compromised.
