STELLAR‐CB: Synthetic Temporal LSTM for Livestock Activity Recognition—Cow Behaviour

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
This study introduces a novel framework combining LSTM networks with SMOTE to address class imbalance in precision livestock farming. It improves the detection of rare behaviours in livestock, achieving state‐of‐the‐art performance while reducing computational overhead, offering a practical, breed‐agnostic solution for enhancing automated behaviour ...

Self‐Determined Motivation and Physical Activity in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

open access: yesThe Clinical Respiratory Journal, Volume 20, Issue 7, July 2026.
In individuals with COPD, higher autonomous motivation is associated with greater physical activity and lower sedentary behavior measured by accelerometry. Integrated regulation emerged as the main motivational driver of daily activity and step count. Targeting motivational processes may help support more active lifestyles in COPD.

Performance of the Direct Current Electric Potential Difference (DCEPD) Method for Crack Extension Measurement in Fracture Mechanics Specimens Exhibiting Split Delaminations

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 2963-2980, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This work investigates the performance of the direct current electric potential difference (DCEPD) method for measuring crack extension ( ∆a) during fracture toughness tests of ductile steels exhibiting delaminations perpendicular to the main crack plane, known as splits.

Socio‐Ecological Factors of Physical Activity in Children and Adolescents With Down Syndrome: A Mixed‐Methods Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Intellectual Disability Research, Volume 70, Issue 7, Page 665-677, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Children and adolescents with Down syndrome (DS) are at risk of obesity due to a reduced level of physical activity (PA). PA in children and adolescents with DS is a multifaceted phenomenon that includes personal, relationship, community and other social factors.

Upscaling the Strength Domain of Heterogeneous Cohesive‐Frictional Materials via a General FFT‐Based Limit Analysis Approach

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 12, 30 June 2026.
ABSTRACT Limit analysis and yield design provide a well‐defined mathematical framework for upscaling the strength properties of heterogeneous materials. These techniques can be incorporated into an FFT‐based computational micromechanics framework to evaluate the strength of heterogeneous materials, based on images of their microstructure.

Tracing Hailstone Development: Isotopic Evidence and Microphysical Variability in Texas Supercell Events

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract Two supercell thunderstorms that occurred in Del Rio and Burkburnett, Texas in the spring of 2020 produced greater than 5 cm diameter hailstones. Fourteen hailstones, eight from Del Rio and six from Burkburnett, were cut in half along the maximum principal axis. Half the hailstone was dissected at 0.5 cm increments, providing 198 subsamples of
