We report a photo-stimulated triboelectric generation occurring on the metal–oxide/polyimide interface during instantaneous friction. The photogenerated electrons were accumulated at the surface of TiOx, reversing the charge transfer and enhancing the output signals of the nanogenerator by 5 times.
