In a morphological ontology the expert's knowledge is represented in terms, which describe morphological structures and how these structures relate to each other. With the assistance of ontologies this expert knowledge is made processable by machines, through a formal and standardized representation of terms and their relations to each other.

TcFur1, a furin 1 ortholog in Tribolium castaneum, regulates reproduction and carbohydrate metabolism without affecting lipid homeostasis

TcFur1, a furin 1 ortholog in Tribolium castaneum, is highly expressed in pupae and declines in adults. TcFur1 knockdown reduces oviposition but does not alter triacylglycerol levels or total lipase activity. TcFur1 knockdown increases circulating trehalose and decreases expression of insulin‐like peptides and the AKH receptor.
