Transmission dynamics of Trichomonas vaginalis: A mathematical approach

open access: yes, 2011
Despite the availability of treatment that is effective, Trichomonas vaginalis infections are still high. A deterministic model for transmission dynamics of Trichomonas vaginalis is presented as a system of non-linear differential equations.

Chemotherapy of Trichomonas foetus Infections in Rabbits.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1949
SummaryA standardized, controlled in vivo technic utilizing female rabbits has been described for testing the trichomonacidal properties of various therapeutic compounds against Trichomonas foetus. A total of 58 compounds was tested by this method. Only 3 compounds: entozon, iodine and sulfomerthiolate appeared to reduce the duration of infection.

Evolutionary divergence and functional insights into the heteromeric cis‐prenyltransferase of Paramecium tetraurelia

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 6, Page 1681-1707, March 2026.
Heteromeric cis‐prenyltransferases (CPT) are indispensable for dolichol synthesis and protein N‐glycosylation in most eukaryotes. The catalytic subunits are strongly conserved throughout evolution, in contrast to the evolutionarily variable accessory subunits. The POC1 protein from Paramecium tetraurelia is the smallest identified CPT‐accessory subunit

Treatment of vaginal infections: effectiveness of the association of metronidazole and clotrimazole

open access: yesClinical Management Issues, 2010

Development of PCR assays for detection of Trichomonas vaginalis in urine specimens. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Trichomonas vaginalis infections are usually asymptomatic or can result in nonspecific clinical symptoms, which makes laboratory-based detection of this protozoan parasite essential for diagnosis and treatment.
