Trichotillomania in a dementia case

We report an 87-year-old male case of hair pulling associated with a white-matter vascular dementia (Binswanger's disease). Trichotillomania in our case did not resolve using mirtazapine or anticholinesterasic medication.

Case reports of 2 female patients from the Makrani culture are presented. They were both around 30 years of age, clinically depressed and responded favorably to antidepressants. One of these patients was infertile, and the other one had started pulling her hair when deprived of her jewellery.

The mediating role of shame in the relationship between adolescent hairpulling and co‐occurring anxiety and depressive symptomology

This study found that shame is a significant mediator in positive associations between hairpulling severity and depression and anxiety severity within a community sample of adolescents with clinical levels of hair‐pulling severity. It also found high levels of trance‐pulling and post‐pulling rituals.
