Evaluation and treatment of secondary tricuspid insufficiency
European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 1992To define the role of functional tricuspid insufficiency and right ventricular (RV) failure in patients with mitral disease, the data of 121 patients with secondary tricuspid insufficiency that underwent mitral valve replacement (MVR) from January 1982 to December 1987 were analyzed.

Massive Congenital Tricuspid Insufficiency in the Newborn
Acta Radiologica. Diagnosis, 1979Three cases of massive congenital tricuspid incompetence in the newborn are reported and discussed from diagnostic, pathologic and etiologic points of view. The diagnosis is important as cases have been reported with spontaneous resolution.

Isolated tricuspid insufficiency
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1966Abstract We have described a case of isolated tricuspid insufficiency in a 34 year old man with a history of prior chest trauma. Clinical, radiologic and laboratory evaluation firmly established the diagnosis of tricuspid insufficiency which was successfully treated surgically by the implantation of a Starr-Edwards valve.

Problems in the hemodynamic diagnosis of tricuspid insufficiency
American Heart Journal, 1968Abstract The dependability of RVA in the evaluation of TI was studied in 141 patients with congenital or rheumatic disease. In patients over age 10, angiocardiography revealed TI in 13 and was negative in 27. Eight with positive RVA had cardiac operation and TI was confirmed in seven; three not having been operated upon were probably false positives.

Tricuspid insufficiency due to nonpenetrating trauma
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1976This case of tricuspid insufficiency due to nonpenetrating trauma involved a male patient who had received major chest trauma in an automobile accident, had a nonholosystolic murmur that increased slightly during inspiration on standing, and tranient electrocardiographic findings of right bundle branch block.

CARDIAC injury, secondary to nonpenetrating trauma, is becoming an increasingly important entity in this age of high speed transportation, industrial mechanization and community social violence. One of the subtle, uncommon, but frequently hemodynamically significant, lesions produced is traumatic tricuspid insufficiency.
