Chordae tendineae rupture: a rare cause of tricuspid regurgitation following coronary artery bypass grafting

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology
Background Tricuspid regurgitation is classified broadly by its etiology being either structural or functional. New or worsening tricuspid regurgitation upon weaning from cardiopulmonary bypass is rare and often functional. However, iatrogenic structural

WEB downloadable software for training in cardiovascular hemodynamics in the (3-D) stress echo lab [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
When a physiological (exercise) stress echo is scheduled, interest focuses on wall motion segmental contraction abnormalities to diagnose ischemic response to stress, and on left ventricular ejection fraction to assess contractile reserve ...

CUL3‐Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder: Expanding the Prenatal Phenotype

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Pathogenic variants of the CUL3 gene are known to cause a neurodevelopmental disorder with a partially described prenatal phenotype. This study further characterizes and expands the spectrum of prenatal sonographic findings associated with the disorder to improve prenatal diagnosis and counseling.

Diastolic And Systolic Right Ventricular Dysfunction Precedes Left Ventricular Dysfunction In Patients Paced From Right Ventricular Apex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Background: Cardiac dysfunction after right ventricular (RV) apical pacing is well known but its extent, time frame of appearance and individual effect on left ventricular (LV), RV systolic and diastolic parameters has not evaluated in a systematic ...

Interventions and Perinatal Outcomes Associated With Recipient Twin Cardiomyopathy in the Setting of Twin‐To‐Twin Transfusion Syndrome: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine (1) Whether the presence and severity of recipient twin cardiomyopathy in the setting of twin‐to‐twin transfusion syndrome are associated with worse perinatal outcomes when compared to recipient twins without evidence of cardiomyopathy and (2) The optimal management strategy to reduce the likelihood of adverse perinatal ...

Pulmonary arterial hypertension outcomes upon endothelin-1 receptor antagonist switch to macitentan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Objectives: To assess whether switching patients with suboptimally controlled pulmonary arterial hypertension from bosentan or ambrisentan to macitentan would improve six-minute walk test (6MWT) distance and World Health Organization functional class ...

Neuroimaging Findings and Risk Factors for Brain Injury in Foetuses Treated for Anaemia

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Characterize neuroimaging findings in foetuses with anaemia and identify associated risk factors. Methods Retrospective cohort study of pregnancies with foetal anaemia (defined as haemoglobin > 2 standard deviations below the gestational age mean) confirmed by foetal blood sampling (FBS) and treated with intrauterine transfusion (IUT)

Comparison of Intraoperative Doppler Flow Measurements and Algorithmic Flow Estimations in Patients Undergoing Durable Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Direct intraoperative HeartMate 3 LVAD flow measurements using an ultrasonic probe revealed consistently higher values by approximately 0.5 L/min compared to device‐estimated flows. This discrepancy remained stable across pump speed settings, highlighting the importance of distinguishing measured from estimated flow in HeartMate 3 patients.
