Comparison of Intraoperative Doppler Flow Measurements and Algorithmic Flow Estimations in Patients Undergoing Durable Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Direct intraoperative HeartMate 3 LVAD flow measurements using an ultrasonic probe revealed consistently higher values by approximately 0.5 L/min compared to device‐estimated flows. This discrepancy remained stable across pump speed settings, highlighting the importance of distinguishing measured from estimated flow in HeartMate 3 patients.

Tricuspid valve and percutaneous approach: No longer the forgotten valve!

open access: yes, 2016
SummaryTricuspid valve disease is mainly represented by tricuspid regurgitation (TR), which is a predictor of poor outcome. TR is usually secondary, caused by right ventricle pressure or volume overload, the leading cause being left-sided heart valve ...

The first case of Reel Syndrome in a dog after pacemaker implantation: A case report

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Reel Syndrome is a rare complication of permanent pacemaker implantation, characterised by the rotation of the device around its transverse axis, which causes the lead to coil around the generator and displacement, leading to pacing dysfunction. This report presents the first documented case of Reel Syndrome in a dog.

Circulating Musclin is associated with skeletal muscle function and subclinical cardiac dysfunction in patients with cancer

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Musclin (osteocrin) is a skeletal muscle‐derived peptide that has been implicated in cardioprotective signalling pathways. Its relevance in cancer patients, who frequently experience muscle wasting and cardiotoxicity, remains unclear. This study aimed to determine whether circulating Musclin levels reflect functional capacity and

Tricuspid valve surgery.

open access: yes, 1977
Our purpose was to study the long-term results of the tricuspid valve replacement. It is obvious that tricuspid annuloplasty (Kay, De Vega) has its place in the treatment of functional tricuspid insufficiency that accompanies mitral or mitral and aortic ...

Tricuspid regurgitation and right ventricular function after mitral valve surgery with or without concomitant tricuspid valve procedure

open access: yes, 2012
OBJECTIVES: To study the effect of mitral valve repair with or without concomitant tricuspid valve repair on functional tricuspid regurgitation and right ventricular function.

Novel Postzygotic Variants Associated With Hypomelanosis of Ito Expand the ACTB‐Related Neurocutaneous Disease Spectrum

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
We describe a previously unreported phenotype related to postzygotic ACTB variants with hypomelanosis of Ito, characterized by hypopigmentation associated or not with neurodevelopmental features, distinct from Becker presentations, bridging constitutional neurodevelopmental and somatic cutaneous phenotypes.

Pulmonary valvulotomy in a fetus with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum : first experience in Turkey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The mortality and morbidity of children with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum (PA/IVS) is closely related with right ventricle hypoplasia and its consequent hemodynamics.
