Isolated reoperative tricuspid valve replacement is one of the highest risk operations classified in the Society of Thoracic Surgeons registry, particularly in the setting of preexisting right ventricular dysfunction. Transcatheter tricuspid valve-in-valve implantation represents an attractive alternative to redo surgery in patients with tricuspid ...

The evolution over the last several decades of surgery for acquired disease of the tricuspid valve is characterized by steady movement away from replacement and toward techniques that conserve the valve. Replacement of the valve has become uncommon, occurring in less than 5% of patients undergoing tricuspid valve surgery.

Tricuspid and Pulmonary Valves
2012The tricuspid valve is involved in right ventricular enlargement, carcinoid syndrome, rheumatic heart disease, and Loffler’s syndrome, which can cause tricuspid stenosis. Tricuspid regurgitation is common in endocarditis, especially in drug-addicted patients and in Ebstein’s anomaly. Pulmonary stenosis is common in Noonan’s syndrome, carcinoid syndrome,

The interest of both cardiologists (echocardiographers and interventional cardiologists) and cardiac surgeons about the tricuspid valve has been fueled by the association of better understanding of the role of tricuspid regurgitation as an independent determinant of patients’ morbidity and mortality, and the advent of novel transcatheter devices to ...

Tricuspid valve replacement with a bioprosthetic valve
Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2008Significant tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is present in many patients with heart failure. Valve replacement is necessary in patients in whom the valve is irreparable or in whom there is a high risk of late failure. The following manuscript and videos describe our approach to tricuspid valve replacement with a bioprosthetic valve.

Atrioventricular Valves: Tricuspid Valve
2021Congenital tricuspid valve anomalies are rare congenital heart defects (CHDs). Tricuspid atresia is more common among them followed by Ebstein anomaly. Tricuspid atresia results from the absence of the tricuspid valve along with right ventricular hypoplasia.

Tricuspid valve abnormalities are relatively rare lesions in the spectrum of congenital heart disease which can affect the leaflets, chordal apparatus, and/or papillary muscles of the tricuspid valve. Ebstein anomaly is the most common form of congenital tricuspid valve disease.
