The economic demonstrator: prepare it once, use it many times. V. liquid–liquid phase transition phenomena

open access: yesEducación Química, 2019
A simple and economic way of conducing demonstration experiments about liquid–liquid phase transitions is presented and discussed. Pairs of liquids are sealed in a series of ampoules and each ampoule is put in a beaker filled with either ice or hot water.

Engineering Pendant Group Chemistry to Control Hydrophilicity and Oxidative Degradation of Thioketal‐Based Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thioketal (TK) polymers are promising biomaterials due to their selective biodegradation by reactive oxygen species (ROS), but they respond slowly to physiologic doses of ROS. Here, the TK bond's pendant groups are modified to enhance the degradation of TK‐based implants both in vitro and in vivo.

Improved triethylamine sensing properties by designing an In2O3/ZnO heterojunction

open access: yesSensors and Actuators Reports, 2021
Sensors of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) play a vital role in environmental monitoring. Although much progress has been made to develop new sensing materials, it remains challenging to detect a particular VOC selectively and without the interference ...

Bioinspired Mechanically Robust Organic–Inorganic Hybridized Bio‐Adhesives With up to 50% Inorganic Components by Bi‐Continuous Phase Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A robust plant protein adhesive was prepared by fabricating a bi‐continuous organic–inorganic hybrid structure. Compared with traditional organic–inorganic hybrid adhesives, the addition amount of inorganic phase is increased from 0.2%–3.0% to 50%, and the strength and toughness are increased by 6 and 121 times, respectively.

Fructose‐Based Single‐Chain Polymer Nanoparticles for GLUT1–Mediated Delivery: Impact of Polymer Design on Uptake and In Vivo Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐chain nanoparticles have been proposed as drug delivery carriers, but adding a tail can significantly enhance their performance. This was demonstrated using a tadpole‐like structure comprising a head prepared from a UV‐crosslinked fructose‐based glycopolymer capable of targeting GLUT receptors, combined with a PEG‐based tail. Compared with other

Comparative Evaluation and Improvement of the Analytical Method for Amiodarone Hydrochloride: Replacing the Pharmacopeial Method with a Validated RP-HPLC Technique

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study aimed to develop and validate a rapid and robust reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography assay for amiodarone, creating an alternative to the previously established pharmacopeial method (retention time: 26 min).
