Comparison of Two Different Pulsed Radiofrequency Modes for Prevention of Postherpetic Neuralgia in Elderly Patients with Acute/Subacute Trigeminal Herpes Zoster

open access: yesNeuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface, EarlyView., 2021
Abstract Objective Trigeminal postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is often refractory to treatment. Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) neuromodulation can help in preventing PHN after herpes zoster. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of two different PRF modes on gasserian ganglion neuromodulation in elderly patients with acute/subacute trigeminal ...

Nerves of 2-categories and 2-categorification of $(\infty,2)$-categories [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We show that the homotopy theory of strict 2-categories embeds in that of $(\infty,2)$-categories in the form of 2-precomplicial sets. More precisely, we construct a nerve-categorification adjunction that is a Quillen pair between Lack's model structure for 2-categories and Riehl-Verity's model structure for 2-complicial sets. Furthermore, we show that

Lateral pterygoid muscle and maxillary artery are key anatomical landmarks for ultrasound-guided trigeminal nerve block.

open access: yesAnesthesiology, 2013
957 April 2013 T RIGEMINAL nerve blocks have traditionally been performed by contacting the lateral pterygoid plate, entering the pterygopalatine fossa, and advancing the needle to elicit a paresthesia.

Sensory and Autonomic Fibers in Anterior Ethmoid, Posterior Nasal, Posterolateral Nasal Nerves

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
All cadaveric anterior ethmoid, posterior, and posterolateral nasal nerves contained roughly equivalent proportions of sensory, parasympathetic, and sympathetic nerve fiber markers. Neurokinin A was the only neuropeptide with consistently greater percent areas across the different nasal nerves.

Vortex Nerves and their Proximities. Nerve Betti Numbers and Descriptive Proximity [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Allahabad Mathematical Society vol. 34, no. 2, 2019, 263-276, 2019
This article introduces vortex nerve complexes in CW (Closure finite Weak) topological spaces, which first appeared in works by P. Alexandroff, H. Hopf and J.H.C. Whitehead during the 1930s. A vortex nerve is a CW complex containing one or more intersecting path-connected cycles. Each vortex nerve has its own distinctive shape. Both vortex nerve shapes

The psychosocial and affective burden of posttraumatic neuropathy following injuries to the trigeminal nerve.

open access: yesJournal of Orofacial Pain, 2013
AIMS To explore the impact of trigeminal nerve injuries on quality of life, including the effect of pain on psychological and affective function. METHODS An observational, cross-sectional survey design was employed.

Olfactory Stimulation Enhances Trigeminal Responses at the Mucosal Level

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
(1) Trigeminal stimulation induced a clear NMP; trigeminal‐olfactory co‐stimulation induced an even greater NMP. (2) Olfactory stimulation may enhance peripheral neural processing of trigeminal stimulation. (3) Olfactory‐trigeminal interaction might occur before reaching the central nervous system.
