Myositis ossificans of the elbow after a trigger point injection.

open access: yes, 2021
Trigger point injection is a simple procedure that is widely performed for relieving pain. Even though there are several complications of trigger point injection, myositis ossificans has not been documented as one of its complications.

Coexistence of Fibromyalgia, Myofascial Pain Syndrome and Depression Among Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation

open access: yesHaseki Tıp Bülteni, 2022
Aim:Pain in lumbar disc herniation (LDH) may originate from a multisource other than the intervertebral disc, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings are not always correlated with clinical symptoms in LDH patients.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Myofascial trigger point and sensation of vibration

open access: yes, 2009
The main objective of the work name d "Myofascial trigger point and perception of vibration" was to evaluate the influence of local nociception in the form of myofascial trigger point over local vibration sensitivity.

Intramuscular stiffness distribution in anterior and posterior upper trapezius muscles in healthy young males

open access: yesFrontiers in Sports and Active Living
IntroductionIncreased muscle stiffness in the upper trapezius has been suggested to be associated with cervical myofascial pain and myofascial trigger points (MTrP).

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The role of trigger point therapy in knee osteoarthritis

open access: yes, 2003
Background and objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether injection of trigger points with lidocaine combined with intra-articular hyaluronic acid injection would be more effective in pain reduction and assisting daily activities of

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The effect of trigger point therapy and medicine ball exercises vs trigger point therapy and stretching on hip rotational biomechanics of the golf swings

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Elite golfers sustain a large number of lumbar spine injuries. Poor rotational biomechanics, which may occur as a result of a shortened iliopsoas muscle, increase the incidence of lumbar spine injuries in golfers.
