Comparison of serum triglyceride levels with propofol in long chain triglyceride and propofol in medium and long chain triglyceride after short term anesthesia in pediatric patients

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Significant increase in serum triglyceride (ST) concentration have been described in adult population after prolonged administration of propofol formulation containing long chain triglyceride (LCT).

The Antidiabetic Potential of Alpha‐Mangostin: A Review of Preclinical and Clinical Evidence

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
Alpha‐mangostin is a compound from the pericarp of Garcinia mangostana. The antidiabetic effects of alpha‐mangostin include enhancing insulin secretion, improving glucose uptake through GLUT receptor upregulation, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, promoting wound healing, reducing HbA1C, reducing HOMA‐IR index, and decreased mRNA expressions ...

Beneficial Body Mass Index for Age‐Related Kidney Function in Males and Females

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
The impact of BMI on age‐related kidney function decline is highly sex‐ and age‐dependent. Normal BMI (18.5–25 kg/m2) is associated with better age‐related kidney function in all‐aged males and females older than 45 years. ABSTRACT Objectives Kidney function declines with aging, leading to a high prevalence of age‐related disease.

Ovariectomy decreases plasma triglyceride levels in analbuminaemic rats by lowering hepatic triglyceride secretion

open access: yes, 1995
In mutant analbuminaemic rats (NAR), females demonstrate a more marked hypertriglyceridaemia than males. Ovariectomy decreases triglyceride levels in female NAR.

Expert Consensus on the Management of Obesity in Older Adults (2026 Edition)

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract summarizes a safety‐first framework for managing obesity in older adults, with attention to age, functional status, comorbidities, and sarcopenia risk. Key assessments include BMI, waist measures, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, and comprehensive geriatric evaluation. Management prioritizes reducing visceral fat while

Triglyceride storage in skeletal muscle

open access: yes, 2008
When muscle fibres contract they rely on fuels from extra-and intramuscular fat and carbohydrate sources. The most important fuels are free fatty acids from blood and intramuscular triglyceride stores and glucose from blood and intramuscular glycogen ...

A Novel NR3C1 Frameshift Variant Associated With Familial Glucocorticoid Resistance Syndrome: An Integrated Analysis of Steroid Profiling and Structural Modeling

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glucocorticoid resistance syndrome (GRS) is a rare hereditary disorder caused by pathogenic variants in NR3C1, characterized by marked phenotypic heterogeneity and frequent misdiagnosis as primary aldosteronism or subclinical Cushing's syndrome.

The EXPLAIN Study: Exploring Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita in Adults in Norway — A Description of Demographic, Medical, and Neurological Findings

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part C: Seminars in Medical Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) encompasses several hundred conditions with diverse genetic, pathophysiological, and clinical origins. The overarching EXPLAIN study explores underlying causes and implications of AMC and represents the largest clinical cohort of adults with AMC reported to date.

The liver‐brain axis: A multidimensional regulatory network implicated in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis and clinical implications

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Schematic diagram of the core pathways of the liver‐brain axis in regulating AD. The liver regulates cerebral Aβ deposition, tau phosphorylation, and neuroinflammation through pathways such as metabolic detoxification (urea cycle, ketone body metabolism, glutathione antioxidant system), molecular secretion (APOE, CRP, FGF21, IGF‐1), and Aβ clearance ...

Neuroprotection after transient middle cerebral artery occlusion in male rats using kojic acid nanostructured lipid carriers: A behavioral, biochemical, and histological study on hippocampal CA1 region

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that kojic acid–loaded nanostructured lipid carriers (KA‐NLC) provide significant neuroprotection in a male rat model of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO)–induced stroke. Treatment with KA‐NLCs reduced cerebral edema, improved motor and coordination balance and neurological scores, and enhanced spatial and avoidance memory.
