Abstract Background Teachers' goals play an important role in teaching quality and student outcomes. However, the processes through which this aspect of teacher motivation translates into specific teaching behaviours remain unclear. Aims This study investigates how goals directed at students and the classroom are associated with visual information ...

The cluster DC voltage balancing control adopting zero-sequence voltage injection is appropriate for the star-connected cascaded H-bridge STATCOM because no zero-sequence currents are generated in the three-phase three-wire system.

Unsolvable Riddles and the Truth of Skepticism: Wittgenstein and Cavell
Abstract Both Wittgenstein and Cavell see riddles as a model of intellectual difficulty. By drawing attention to it, they remind us that not all of our intellectual challenges take the form of empirically answerable questions—there may be cases of our not merely lacking knowledge, but of being caught in the fantasy that a certain type of knowledge can ...

Interest Rate Pegs and the Reversal Puzzle: On the Role of Anticipation
Abstract We revisit the reversal puzzle: a counterintuitive contraction of inflation in response to an interest rate peg. We show that its occurrence is intimately related to the degree of agents' anticipation. If agents perfectly anticipate the peg, reversals occur depending on the duration of the peg.

Hyperbolic Volumes of Two Bridge Cone-Manifolds
In this paper we investigate the existence of hyperbolic, Euclidean and spherical structures on cone-manifolds with underlying space 3-sphere and with singular set a given two-bridge knot.

A Mixture Transition Distribution Modeling for Higher‐Order Circular Markov Processes
ABSTRACT This study considers the stationary higher‐order Markov process for circular data by employing the mixture transition distribution modeling. The underlying circular transition distribution is based on Wehrly and Johnson's bivariate joint circular models.

Excavator 3D pose estimation from point cloud with self‐supervised deep learning
Abstract Pose estimation of excavators is a fundamental yet challenging task with significant implications for intelligent construction. Traditional methods based on cameras or sensors are often limited by their ability to perceive spatial structures. To address this, 3D light detection and ranging has emerged as a promising paradigm for excavator pose

General Two- and Three-Dimensional Integral Inequalities Based a Change of Variables Methodology
This article establishes new general two- and three-dimensional integral inequalities. The first result involves four functions: two main functions defined on the positive real line and two auxiliary functions defined on the unit interval.

Image of mathematics: A case study of two women's early mathematics experiences
Abstract People often view mathematics as abstract, cold, and irrelevant to real life, and their school experiences likely influence such views. In this case study, we investigated the mathematics experiences of two women who participated in an afterschool girls‐only STEM club 30 years ago when they were in fifth and sixth grades.
