Tramadol (TRA) causes neurotoxicity whereas trimetazidine (TMZ) is neuroprotective. The potential involvement of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway in the neuroprotection of TMZ against TRA-induced neurotoxicity was evaluated.

Coronary revascularization is not a suitable option for all patients with chronic stable angina (CSA) and, even when such a strategy is adopted, in conjunction with optimal medical therapy (OMT) as suggested by international guidelines, not all of them succeed to be symptom free.

Trimetazidine as indirect antioxidant
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2000One-month therapy with trimetazidine sharply decreased the content of free radical oxidation products, lipid peroxides and malonic dialdehyde, in atherogenic low-density lipoproteins in patients with coronary heart disease. Activity of glutathione peroxidase utilizing lipid peroxides in the plasma markedly increased during trimetazidine therapy.
