The Hydrazine Moiety in the Synthesis of Modified Nucleosides and Nucleotides
Nucleoside derivatives synthesized from hydrazine‐ribose units have been in development for a long time, but surprisingly no inventory has been carried out to date about their synthesis and biological properties. With the aim of filling this gap, this review provides an examination of the chemical synthesis, and potential biological activity of these ...

Double and triple ionization of isocyanic acid [PDF]
Double and triple ionization spectra of isocyanic acid have been measured using multi-electron and ion coincidence techniques combined with synchrotron radiation and compared with high-level theoretical calculations. Vertical double ionization at an energy of 32.8+/-0.3 eV forms the 3A'' ground state in which the HNCO2+ ion is long-lived.

An IR study of pure and ion irradiated frozen formamide [PDF]
Context. The chemical evolution of formamide (HCONH2), a molecule of astrobiological interest that has been tentatively identified in interstellar ices and in cometary coma, has been studied in laboratory under simulated astrophysical conditions such as ion irradiation at low temperature. Aims.

Oscillatory thermal instability and the Bhopal disaster [PDF]
A stability analysis is presented of the hydrolysis of methyl isocyanate (MIC) using a homogeneous flow reactor paradigm. The results simulate the thermal runaway that occurred inside the storage tank of MIC at the Bhopal Union Carbide plant in December 1984. The stability properties of the model indicate that the thermal runaway may have been due to a

Oscillatory thermal instability - the Bhopal disaster and liquid bombs [PDF]
Thermal runaway reactions were involved in the Bhopal disaster of 1984, in which methyl isocyanate was vented from a storage tank of the liquid, and occur in liquid peroxide explosions, yet to date there have been few investigations into the mechanism of thermal runaway in such liquid thermoreactive systems. Consequently protocols for storing thermally

Bis(stearoyl) Sulfide: A Stable, Odor-free Sulfur Precursor for High-Efficiency Metal Sulfide Quantum Dot Photovoltaics [PDF]
The synthesis of metal sulfide nanocrystals is a crucial step in the fabrication of quantum dot (QD) photovoltaics. Control over the quantum dot size during synthesis allows for precise tuning of their optical and electronic properties, making them an appealing choice for electronic applications.

Catalyst-Free Amidation of Trimethylsilyl Ketene Imines with Isocyanates [PDF]
AbstractThe silyl ketimines, generated in situ from diarylmethane nitriles and TmsCl via lithiation, undergo a non‐catalyzed reaction with isocyanates to give highly substituted malonamides in moderate yields.

Reactions of 1,2,2,2-tetrachloroethyl isocyanate with trialkyl and trimethylsilyl phosphites [PDF]
The reaction of 1,2,2,2-tetrachloroethyl isocyanate with trialkyl phosphites is unselective. It involves chlorine substitution, addition by the isocyanate group, and dehydrochlorination and gives rise to a mixture of mono- and diphosphorylated compounds.
