Timescale of a magmatic-hydrothermal system revealed by 40Ar–39Ar geochronology: the Mio-Pliocene Campiglia Marittima system (Tuscany, Italy) [PDF]
Petrology and timing of magmatic-hydrothermal systems and the linkage between plutonic and volcanic domains are central topics in geosciences, because of broad implications for natural hazards and exploitation of natural resources. We investigated by the

Vanadium occupation and its leachability differences in trioctahedral and dioctahedral mica. [PDF]
Vanadium in black shale prefers to locate in the octahedron of mica and can be more easily released from trioctahedral mica than dioctahedral mica.

Very-low-grade phyllosilicates in the Aravis massif (Haute-Savoie, France) and the di-trioctahedral substitution in chlorite [PDF]
Very-low-grade mineral veins investigated in the impure limestone massif of the Aravis (Haute-Savoie, France) yielded a rich mineral assemblage typified by dolomite, calcite, quartz, illitic mica, fluorite and three types of chlorite.

Molecular overtones and two-phonon combination bands in the near-infrared spectra of talc, brucite and lizardite [PDF]
The near-infrared (NIR) spectra of hydrous minerals display absorption bands involving multiple excitations of vibrational modes. They usually involve OH stretching modes, but their interpretation is not straightforward due to the combined effects of ...

Synthesis of New Trioctahedral Mg-Smectite [PDF]
Abstract New trioctahedral Mg-smectites were synthesized hydrothermally from homogeneous Mg–Si precipitates having a wide range of compositions, i.e., from Mg=3.2 to 6, vs. Si=8 in the atomic ratios. Dispersed solutions of the synthetic smectites formed transparent gels possessing good rheological properties.

Vibrational spectroscopic study of three Mg–Ni mineral series in white and greenish clay infillings of the New Caledonian Ni-silicate ores [PDF]
This study presents and discusses infrared spectroscopic data of well characterised, naturally occurring trioctahedral layer silicates of the serpentine (Srp), talc (Tlc), and sepiolite (Sep) mineral groups, which are found in reactivated faults and ...
