The effect of sonication on dioctahedral and trioctahedral micas
This paper reports on the effect of sonication on two mica samples. The materials have been investigated in terms of structure modifications, particle size and morphology, specific surface area and thermogravimetric behaviour. The effect of the mica structure, namely density and distribution of cations over the octahedral sites, on the sonicated ...

Zinc-rich clays in supergene non-sulfide zinc deposits [PDF]
International audienceThe nature and the origin of zinc clays are poorly understood. With the example of the Bou Arhous Zn-Pb ore deposit in the Moroccan High Atlas, this study presents new data for the mineralogical and chemical characterization of ...

Diagenetic smectite-to-illite transition in clay-rich sediments: A reappraisal of X-ray diffraction results using the multi-specimen method [PDF]
International audienceSmectite illitization is a common mineralogical reaction occurring during the burial diagenesis of clay-rich sediments and shales, and has thus attracted sustained interest over the last fifty years.

Influence of OH- concentration on the illitization of kaolinite at high pressure [PDF]
The products of hydrothermal reactions of kaolinite at 300°C and 1000 bars were studied in KOH solutions covering an OH- concentration, [OH-], of 1M to 3.5M. XRD patterns indicated a notable influence of the [OH-] on the reaction.
