Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Dynamics in unfolded polypeptide chains as model for elementary steps in protein folding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This thesis deals with the dynamics of unfolded polypeptide chains as model for the earliest steps in protein folding. Starting from an ensemble of unfolded conformations a folding polypeptide chain has to form specific backbone and side-chain ...

Efficacy of Intermittent Theta‐Burst Stimulation for Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Emerging evidence suggests that low‐frequency neural oscillations are dynamically regulated by consciousness levels, with the recovery of low cortical activity potentially serving as a neurophysiological substrate for conscious emergence. Targeted enhancement of these low‐frequency rhythms in patients with disorders of consciousness

The Triplet–Triplet Annihilation Efficiency of Some 9,10-Substituted Diphenyl Anthracene Variants—A Decisive Analysis from Kinetic Rate Constants

open access: yesOptics
Triplet–triplet transfer photochemical reactions are essential in many biological, chemical, and photonic applications. Here, the Pd-octaethylporphyrin sensitizer along with triplet–triplet annihilator (TTA) active 9,10-diphenylantracenes (DPA) and the ...

The effect of dark states on the intersystem crossing and thermally activated delayed fluorescence of naphthalimide-phenothiazine dyads

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2023
A series of 1,8-naphthalimide (NI)-phenothiazine (PTZ) electron donor–acceptor dyads were prepared to study the thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) properties of the dyads, from a point of view of detection of the various transient species ...

Triplet-State Structures, Energies, and Antiaromaticity of BN Analogues of Benzene and Their Benzo-Fused Derivatives

open access: yes, 2019
It is well known that benzene is aromatic in the ground state (the Hückel’s rule) and antiaromatic in the first triplet (T1) excited state (the Baird’s rule).

Relationship Between Neurologic Symptoms and Signs and FMR1 Genotype in Premutation Carriers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Fragile X‐associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS) is the most severe late‐onset condition caused by a premutation in the FMR1 gene, characterized by expanded CGG triplet repeats of 55–200. Clinical presentations of FXTAS, including gait ataxia, kinetic tremor, cognitive decline, and rare Parkinsonism, are linked to ...

High-Performance Non-doped Blue OLEDs based on Efficiently Triplet-Triplet Upconversion and Aggregation-induced Emission

open access: yes, 2021
Triplet-triplet upconversion (TTU), where two low-energy triplet excitons are converted to one higher energy singlet exciton, is excellent approach to break through the theoretical limit of the pure fluorescent organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) by 5%.

Compound Heterozygote Friedreich Ataxia Patients With Covert Proximal FXN Gene Deletions

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present Friedreich ataxia patients with frataxin gene deletions. Data and records were collected at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from patients enrolled in the FACOMS natural history study. Patients with proximal deletions initially diagnosed with only one GAA expanded allele had more severe disease than their homozygous expansion

Ligand triplet energy escape in lanthanide complexes for developing luminescent molecular thermometers

open access: yesCommunications Chemistry
Luminescent lanthanide complexes can exhibit temperature-sensitive metal-centered emission due to energy transfer quenching from the lanthanide to the ligand triplet states, which have been promising application in emission lifetime-based thermometers ...
