Diploid and triploid offspring of triploid agamosporous fernDryopteris pacifica

The Botanical Magazine Tokyo, 1992
A cytological and reproductive study of the diploid and triploid agamosporousDryopteris pacifica was made to elucidate the origin of its infraspecific cytotypes. Some triploids produced 16 spore mother cells (SMCs) sometimes with n=41II+41I chromosomes, in addition to eight SMCs with n=123II, in each sporangium.

Human triploid embryo

Human Genetics, 1977
A cytogenetic and anatomopathologic study of an embryo of 24 mm crown-rump length showing pure triploidy (69,XXY) is reported. Anomalies such as unilateral genitourinary agenesia, aortic alterations, defects in cerebral development, and anomalies of the chorionic villi were detected.

Advanced Triploid Pregnancy and Preeclampsia

Southern Medical Journal, 1995
Triploidy, though unusual in advanced gestations, may be associated with preeclampsia. The increase in paternal genetic material associated with the triploid diandric placenta may support the role of immunologic factors in the development of preeclampsia.

Triploid-Diploid Mosaic Chicken Embryo

Science, 1966
Cytological analysis of an underdeveloped chicken embryo at 6 days of incubation revealed a triploid-diploid mosaic condition. Of the 30 metaphases observed, 19 were triploid and 11 diploid. The triploid cells were 3A-ZZZ and diploid cells 2A-ZZ, as determined for the six largest pairs of chromosomes.

Near-triploid Ph-positive leukemia

Cancer Genetics and Cytogenetics, 1985
Tetraploid populations have been observed in various types of leukemia, but relatively few reports exist of triploid cell populations in acute or chronic leukemia. We report two cases of Ph-positive leukemia with a modal triploid cell population. Examination of peripheral blood from a 3-year-old boy with Ph-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL ...

The origin of human triploids

Annals of Human Genetics, 1978
Summarythe data using a maximum‐likelihood method was that 66.4 yo of the triploids were the result of dispermy, 23.6 % the result of fertilization of a haploid ovum by a diploid sperm formed by failure of the first meiotic division in the male and 10 % the result of a diploid egg formed by failure of the first maternal meiotic division.

Farming triploid oysters

Aquaculture, 2002
Abstract Although the commercial benefits of triploidy have been evaluated in the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg, 1793), eastern oyster C. virginica (Gmelin, 1791), Sydney rock oyster Saccostrea glomerata (Gould, 1850) and European flat oyster Ostrea edulis (Linnaeus, 1750), so far this technique has only been commercialised for ...

Barr Bodies in Triploid Cells

Cytogenetic and Genome Research, 1963
The presence of Barr bodies was investigated in cells of a fibroblast culture, which consisted mainly of diploid cells with two X-chromosomes and triploid cells with three X-chromosomes in approximately equal numbers. Out of a total of 1000 cells, 487 cells contained a single Barr body and 64 contained two Barr bodies.

Phenotype of triploid embryos.

Journal of medical genetics, 2006
The phenotypes of triploid fetuses and placentae are now well established and known to correlate with parental origin of the extra haploid set of chromosomes. In fetuses, it is not clear whether there is a direct parent of origin effect on the fetus itself or if the phenotypes are the result of growth differences influenced by abnormalities in growth ...
