Complete mitochondrial DNA genome of triploid pengze crucian carp ( Carassius auratus )
Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2014The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of triploid pengze crucian carp was 16,580 bp in length. The mitochondrial genome contains 22 transfer RNAs, 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNAs and 2 non-coding regions (control region and origin of light-strand replication). All genes were encoded on the heavy strain except for ND6 and eight tRNA genes.

Variation of two mtDNA fragments amplified in polymerase chain reaction was compared by the RFLP method in a population of the sympatric bisexual (diploid) and gynogenetic (triploid) forms of silver crucian carp. The mtDNA haplotypes of all individuals differed in at least 2.5% of nucleotide substitutions and fall into two phylogroups.

Histocompatibility analyses in goldfish were performed using the tetraploid goldfish‐crucian carp hybrid and the first generation of gynogenetic diploid (GD1) goldfish. Tetraploids were obtained by crossing clonal triploid crucian carp with goldfish. GD1 goldfish were produced by the suppression of the second meiotic division.
