Group effect on bearing capacities of tripod bucket foundations in undrained clay
Ocean Engineering, 2014Tripod bucket foundations are being used as alternative foundations to resist large horizontal and moment loadings from offshore wind turbines. The bearing capacity of the tripod bucket foundation differs particularly from that of the single bucket foundation due to the interaction among individual buckets of the tripod.

Evaluation of horizontal and moment bearing capacities of tripod bucket foundations in sand
Ocean Engineering, 2017Abstract Bearing capacities of tripod bucket foundations differ from those of single bucket foundations because of the interaction among individual buckets of the tripod. This study analyzed the bearing capacities of tripod bucket foundations in medium and dense sands by performing a series of 3D finite element analyses. The sandy soil was modeled by

Abstract A series of three-dimensional finite element analyses was conducted to evaluate the combined horizontal-moment bearing capacities of tripod bucket foundations for offshore wind turbines in undrained clay. The tripod bucket foundation consists of three single bucket foundations, which enhance the bearing capacities because of the effect of ...

Volume 9: Offshore Geotechnics; Torgeir Moan Honoring Symposium, 2017
As part of the national off-shore wind power development project by the government of Korea, the very first off-shore wind turbine utilizing tri-pod suction buckets for its sub-surface foundation has been successfully completed. This off-shore wind turbine with a capacity of 3MW has been designed, constructed, and installed in late 2016.

Abstract Existing tripod suction bucket foundations, utilised for offshore wind turbines, are required to resist significant lateral loads and overturning moments generated by wind and currents. This paper presents an innovative type of tripod bucket foundation, ‘hybrid tripod bucket foundation’, for foundations of offshore wind turbines, which has ...

Centrifuge Study on the Lateral Loaded Response of the Monopod and Tripod Bucket Foundations in Sand
2018In this paper, a series of centrifuge tests were carried out in medium dense sand to investigate and compare the lateral loaded behaviour of a monopod and a tripod, which were fabricated with an identical amount of material. The experimental results shows that tripod bucket foundation exhibited better load resistance capacity with higher initial ...
