Gait Analysis of Pak Biawak: A Necrobot Lizard Built using the Skeleton of an Asian Water Monitor (Varanus Salvator)

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Pak Biawak, a necrobot, embodies an unusual fusion of biology and robotics. Designed to repurpose natural structures after death, it challenges conventional boundaries between nature and engineering. Its movements are precise yet unsettling, raising questions about sustainability, ethics, and the untapped potential of biointegrated machines.

Does a satisfying trip result in more future trips with that mode? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Previous studies have indicated that travel satisfaction – the experienced emotions during, and cognitive evaluation of, a trip – can be affected by travel mode choice and other trip characteristics.

3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.

A Planning Template for Nonwork Travel and Transit Oriented Development, MTI Report 01-12 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI) at San José State University assigned a project team to design a planning template for transit-oriented development (TOD) that incorporates an understanding of nonwork travel, that is, trips for shopping, eating ...

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...

Distance matters: a look at crime trip distances in Flanders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Most journey-to-crime studies are flawed in two ways: they predominantly rely on local police data and although a number of studies hint at the presence of substantially longer crime trips than commonly reported, long trips are deliberately removed from

Tunable Sound Absorption via Evanescent‐Wave Coupling in Asymmetric Bilayer Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tunable sound absorption is realized through a bilayer metasurface system governed by evanescent‐wave coupling. This work demonstrates that such evanescent‐wave coupling provides a controllable scattering channel that destructively interferes with the specular reflection.

Protection of geographical indication: a new convergence or an old divergence?

open access: yesJournal of International Economics and Management, 2016
Geographical Indications was conceptualized in the Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights in 1995 (TRIPs Agreement) and become one of the most contentious intellectual property rights issues in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other ...

From Geneva to Amaicha del Valle: A retrospective history of four indigenous leaders and their travels to “secure the land”

open access: yesNuevo mundo - Mundos Nuevos, 2013
From an anthropological and historical perspective, in this paper we aim to focus on the issue of land communal possession in Amaicha del Valle (Tucumán, Argentina) and the role played by a variety native authority figures. Specifically, we are using the
