Mapping the Cerebral Organoid Landscape: A Systematic Review of Preclinical 3D Models in Neuroscience

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 18, 15 May 2026.
Cerebral organoids are transforming brain research, yet the field remains fragmented. This comprehensive systematic review maps 738 studies published between 2014 and 2024 to uncover trends, gaps, and opportunities across neuroscience. Introducing OrganoidMap—an interactive, open‐access platform to explore and compare models—this work enables ...

Selinexor and Venetoclax Combination in Patients With Relapsed or Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 101, Issue 5, Page 1019-1024, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Preclinical studies showed a synergistic antileukemia activity with combination of selective XPO1 inhibitor selinexor (SEL) and venetoclax (VEN), with potential to overcome VEN resistance by reducing the anti‐apoptotic protein MCL1. In an investigator‐sponsored, open‐label, phase Ib study (NCT03955783), adult patients with relapsed or ...

Age‐related behavioral and molecular landmarks in new mouse models for studying Alzheimer's disease in Down syndrome

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Down syndrome (DS) is the leading genetic cause of intellectual disability and Alzheimer's disease (AD), with over 90% of individuals developing AD‐related dementia (DSAD). The triplication of the APP gene on chromosome 21 drives early amyloid‐β (Aβ) accumulation, but other Hsa21 genes also contribute to pathology.

Investigating Associations Between Psychological Distress and Changes in Peripheral Blood Monocytes in Patients With CLL/SLL Managed With Active Surveillance

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
Among asymptomatic patients with CLL/SLL managed with active surveillance, psychological distress was associated with a lower percentage of intermediate monocytes and a greater percentage of classical monocytes. This is one of the first studies to observe that psychological distress is associated with differential patterns of monocyte distribution in ...
