Autoradiography with Tritium

1963
In autoradiography, a photographic emulsion is placed in contact with a specimen containing radioactivity and stored in the dark. The radiation, passing through the emulsion, sensitizes silver bromide granules so that they can be reduced to metallic silver by a photographic developer.

Tritium Sampling and Measurement

Health Physics, 1993
Current methods for sampling and measuring tritium are described. Although the basic techniques have not changed significantly over the last 10 y, there have been several notable improvements in tritium measurement instrumentation. The design and quality of commercial ion-chamber-based and gas-flow-proportional-counter-based tritium monitors for ...

First principles review of options for tritium breeder and neutron multiplier materials for breeding blankets in fusion reactors

Fusion engineering and design, 2018
The current breeding blankets proposed in the different conceptual fusion power plants are based mainly on the use of Li4SiO4 and/or Li2TiO3 as tritium breeder and Be/Be12Ti as neutron multiplier or an eutectic Li17Pb83 for as a hybrid tritium and ...

Metabolism and Dosimetry of Tritium

Health Physics, 1993
This document was prepared as a review of the current knowledge of tritium metabolism and dosimetry. The physical, chemical, and metabolic characteristics of various forms of tritium are presented as they pertain to performing dose assessments for occupational workers and for the general public.

Understanding water circulation with tritium tracer in the Tural-Rajwadi geothermal area, India

Applied Geochemistry, 2019
This study investigates the water circulation using tritium measurements in local precipitation, shallow dug wells and thermal springs of the Tural-Rajwadi area, which is one of the potentially productive geothermal areas in India. In the study area, the

The Closed Tritium Cycle of the Tritium Laboratory Karlsruhe

Fusion Science and Technology, 2005
The Tritium Laboratory Karlsruhe (TLK) was commissioned with tritium in 1994 and since then has continuously improved its infrastructure and has expanded its experimental activities. With a fully closed tritium cycle and the license to handle 40 g of tritium TLK is an almost unique experimental facility.

Thermalization of the muonic tritium atom in deuterium-tritium mixtures

Physical Review A, 1986
Thermalization of hot t\ensuremath{\mu} atoms formed in ${\mathrm{D}}_{2}$-DT-${\mathrm{T}}_{2}$ mixtures and relaxation of the triplet hyperfine state of t\ensuremath{\mu} are treated by Monte Carlo simulation. The cross sections for collisions with molecular targets are derived from cross sections for collisions with the component atoms.

Tritium Monitoring and Analysis in the CRNL Tritium Laboratory

Fusion Technology, 1988
A laboratory handling tritium requires a large variety of procedures for the assay of tritium concentrations over a very wide range (10/sup -9/ Ci/m/sup 3/ to 10/sup 6/ Ci/m/sup 3/). The measurement of tritium can be conveniently categorized into four levels from very low concentrations to very high concentrations (up to 100% T/sub 2/).

Tritium profiles in snowpacks

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2010
The release of tritiated water (HTO) to the atmosphere during the winter can contribute significantly to snow contamination and to water-soil-plant contamination after the spring thaw. The dose significance of such a release depends on the persistence of tritiated water in the snowpack, which is primarily controlled by the HTO diffusion process in snow
