Direct tritium emissions to the ocean from the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear accident

, 2018
In this work we report tritium concentrations determined in seawater samples collected offshore of Fukushima in the northwestern Pacific Ocean, immediately after the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant (F1-NPP) accident.

Tritium in Plants

Journal of Environmental Quality, 1979
AbstractThis is a review of literature regarding the fate and consequence of tritium in plants. Concepts and terminologies commonly used in plant‐water relations are generally adequate to describe tritium kinetics in plants. Isotopic fractionation between tritium and stable hydrogen occurs in many plant‐mediated processes and may result in about a 20 ...

Tritium Transport Analysis in a 2-MW Liquid-Fueled Molten Salt Experimental Reactor with the Code TMSR-TTAC

Nuclear Technology, 2018
In the Thorium-Based Molten Salt Reactor (TMSR), tritium is produced at a high rate, which results in huge difficulties regarding tritium control. Tritium distributions in a 2-MW liquid-fueled molten salt experimental reactor (TMSR-LF1) were simulated ...

Metabolism and Dosimetry of Tritium

Health Physics, 1993
This document was prepared as a review of the current knowledge of tritium metabolism and dosimetry. The physical, chemical, and metabolic characteristics of various forms of tritium are presented as they pertain to performing dose assessments for occupational workers and for the general public.

Thermalization of the muonic tritium atom in deuterium-tritium mixtures

Physical Review A, 1986
Thermalization of hot t\ensuremath{\mu} atoms formed in ${\mathrm{D}}_{2}$-DT-${\mathrm{T}}_{2}$ mixtures and relaxation of the triplet hyperfine state of t\ensuremath{\mu} are treated by Monte Carlo simulation. The cross sections for collisions with molecular targets are derived from cross sections for collisions with the component atoms.

Tritium Sampling and Measurement

Health Physics, 1993
Current methods for sampling and measuring tritium are described. Although the basic techniques have not changed significantly over the last 10 y, there have been several notable improvements in tritium measurement instrumentation. The design and quality of commercial ion-chamber-based and gas-flow-proportional-counter-based tritium monitors for ...

Tritium Measurement II—Tritium in Plasma

2016
In D–T burning plasma , the fueled ion density ratio nD/nT is a key parameter to control the fusion output power. The requirements in ITER are briefly described, namely the range of density ratio, spatial locations (core, edge, wall, and divertor), and spatial/time resolutions.

Oxygen-tritium and nitrogen-tritium pairs in niobium

Scripta Metallurgica, 1981
Although a large amount of H dissolves in Nb at room temperature, it precipitates at low temperatures to form hydride. If other impurities such as oxygen or nitrogen are present in the metal lattice, H is trapped by them and form N-H or O-H complexes. Results of low frequency internal friction (Q/sup -1/) measurements on Nb doped with both T and O or N

Tritium in the Environment

1979
Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on the possibility of tritium being concentrated in the food chain or an organism of interest. While it cannot be ruled out in unusual circumstances, as most chemical reactions discriminate against the incorporation of either tritium or deuterium in favor of hydrogen, it seems highly unlikely that a ...
