Compatibility of tritium permeation barrier coatings in water cooled ceramic breeder blanket
Strict control of tritium migration is an essential requirement for every blanket concept in a fusion reactor. Tritium permeation barriers (TPBs) have been developed in particular for liquid lithium-lead blankets using ceramic coatings; however, recent ...

Microstructural and mechanical properties of Al-base coated EUROFER-97
Coolant-facing alloys in a tokamak will face harsh environments due to the synergistic effect of flowing coolant, dynamic mechanical loading, ionising radiation, and tritium embrittlement. Reduced activation ferritic/martensitic (RAF/M) EUROFER-97 is the

Abstract A large mantle helium anomaly and separate domains of high heat flow are the predominant manifestations of bimodal magmatic activity in the Milford valley. The mantle helium anomaly (1.9–2.6 R/Ra) covers 270 km2 and is subdivided into two separated domains: a cold shallow groundwater regime and high temperature hydrothermal activity.

Modeling the behavior of a light-water production reactor target rod [PDF]
Pacific Northwest Laboratory has been conducting a series of in-reactor experiments in the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL) Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) to determine the amount of tritium released by permeation from a target rod under neutron ...

A robust method is proposed that addresses a longstanding need for in situ assessment of thin film hermeticity. It allows for a quantitative evaluation of various types of TFE for bioelectronic systems in a manner that is reliable, robust, and ultra‐sensitive. Furthermore, it can serve as an in vivo quality control and reliability test for all types of

Atmospheric emissions from a fluorochemical production facility in North Carolina have led to significant GenX contamination of shallow groundwater but little penetration of GenX to deeper bedrock groundwater. Abstract Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are widespread groundwater contaminants and are present in over 7000 drinking ...

TRITIUM PERMEATION AND TRANSPORT IN THE GASOLINE PRODUCTION SYSTEM COUPLED WITH HIGH TEMPERATURE GAS-COOLED REACTORS (HTGRS) [PDF]
This paper describes scoping analyses on tritium behaviors in the HTGR-integrated gasoline production system, which is based on a methanol-to-gasoline (MTG) plant. In this system, the HTGR transfers heat and electricity to the MTG system. This system was
